For the last four years some have waited for change, chanted for change and advocated for change and it is finally here. Four years in the making an chance to show that what was cannot be what will be.

Over the last few days, the feeling that election day is over has not hit because of the results still being up in the air. A lot of people have stated feelings of anxiousness and anxiety toward everything with sleepless nights becoming a subtle norm.

When asked how would you feel if your candidate did not win, Bowie Remaley simply stated “demoralized.” The simple thought that the change hoped for and voted for may not happen is just that, demoralizing.

There are some that hope that the outcome is to remain the same and keep the status quo. That those who have been in office will keep their positions and carry on making this country great again.

In counter to the feelings in the post Remaley stated that “My candidate represent decency and unity and espouses values that align with mine,” in follow up about being worried if his choice candidate won.

However, in contrast Alexander Martinez stated that he was “on the fence” with regards to who he voted for over the opposing candidate. Which points to the idea that not every option is a good option.

But the Spirit is Strong

Regardless of the outcome at times the journey to changing America is going to be a journey is always going to be a site to behold. For instance the spirit of Philadelphia voters waiting to cast their votes.

Turning a time consuming process meant to dishearten people into an opportunity to make it fun and inspiring. Bringing music to polls changes the attitudes of all involved. Realistically, who can sit still when music is playing with a scowl on their faces.

However, the outcome does not change what has to be done. Whenever the final votes are tabulated and a victor is announced, this new normal that we are living with Covid will persist. Whether that is going to work or just relaxing.
