How has race been a part of your life?

Race has been a part of my life in witnessing the part of society that is non-white taken advantage of and discriminating against by an inept system that has systemically allowed this to happen forever. Being of European American or White, race is not a part of my life, as there comes a sense of entitlement or privilege that I don’t associate with.

How were you impacted by these experiences?

Ashamed and disappointment. Society or the United States hasn’t evolved at all in understanding people of different races and the stigma that comes with it. I have been impacted primarily by being more aware of people of different races and trying to understand or empathize the struggles that come with being of a different race.
